For The Weekend | New Movie Releases Y0u Should Check Out

The weekend is here, which means it’s time to play catch up on all the great shows and movies worth checking out. For the past week and month, we have had some excellent releases, whether you want a thriller or an action movie.

Most of the movies on this list are already available to stream. There is one that isn’t until tomorrow. If you’re looking to catch up on new movies this weekend below are a few recommendations.

1. ARMY OF THE DEAD

Army of the Dead is an American horror zombie heist film directed by Zack Snyder. The movie is following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

2. GOLD STATUE

This movie is not new, but new on Netflix, It was initially released at the theaters in 2019. The movie told the story of 2 young guys who went on an adventure in search of a Gold statue believed to have been a deity inherited by generations that were worth about $500m dollars. In trying to locate this Gold statue they will have to do the unimaginable to allow them gain access to where it was buried and then get it out.

3. A QUIET PLACE 2

A Quiet Place Part II is a 2021 American horror film and the sequel to the 2018 film A Quiet Place, Following the events at home, the Abbott family now faces the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.

4. LUCIFER SEASON 5

Season five part one of Netflix’s Lucifer gave us our first glimpse of God a benevolent figure attempting to resolve tensions with Lucifer ahead of his retirement from omniscient world domination. The second part of season five is set to give God more air time and pick up on the status of Lucifer and Chloe’s relationship following Lucifer’s inability to say “I love you.” The series stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt and D.B. Woodside.

5. SMALL CHOPS

Small Chops is a 2020 Nigerian drama film directed by Robert O. Peters and produced by actress Chika Ike. Small chops follows the story of Nikita, an afro dancer at a bar catches the attention of Casper, an uptight business mogul. Casper pays for a weekend of private entertainment, things don’t go as planned because Nikita’s self-esteem and Casper’s totalitarian attitude cause sparks to fly. At the time they let their guards down, the sparks turn to fireworks.It drops on Netflix tomorrow, June 5 2021.

6. CRUELLA

Emma Stone stars in Disney’s Cruella, a glimpse into the sordid origin story of iconic Disney villain Cruella de Vil. As Cruella rips the high fashion world at its seams, the film paints a visually aesthetic portrait of 1970s London couture, punk, and scrappy street grit. Stone is joined by Emma Thompson as Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who unlocks the darker side of the villain.
